Tall Piao Teapot (65cc)

Product Overview

Name: Tall Shipiao (Gao Shipiao)

Clay Type: White Duan Ni

Capacity: 65cc

Form: Shipiao reinterpretation (Plain Ware · Round Form)

Form Origins

The Shipiao teapot originates from the “stone dipper” (Shidiao) form, finalized by Chen Mansheng in the Qing dynasty. It is a representative literati teapot form. The poetic phrase “From three thousand weak waters, take but a single ladle to drink” imbues it with profound literati spirit. The traditional Shipiao features a triangular conical body, bridge knob, tripod feet, and straight spout as its signature characteristics. This “Tall Shipiao” is a creative reinterpretation—the body proportion has been elongated, and the traditional straight spout has been replaced with a duck-bill spout, improving pouring efficiency. The asymmetrical knob also enhances handling comfort, giving the piece a strong design sensibility.
