Buddha Belly Bamboo Teapot

Product Overview

Name: Buddha Belly Bamboo (Fodu Zhu)

Clay Type: Jiangpo Ni (co-occurrence ore)

Form Origins

Inspired by Buddha Belly Bamboo (also called Arhat Bamboo). This is a peculiar bamboo variety with short, swollen nodes resembling a Buddha’s belly, endearingly plump in form. Bamboo-themed Zisha creations have a long history—from Yang Fengnian’s “Wind-Tossed Sunflower” in the Qing dynasty to Zhu Kexin’s “Heralding Spring Teapot,” bamboo has always been an important theme in Zisha sculptural ware. This piece, designed entirely in the form of Buddha Belly Bamboo, is a fresh and innovative entry in bamboo-themed Zisha teapots.
